I went to a retreat for second DUI offenders. I was hell-bent on doing absolutely everything they wanted me to do. I had to. I wanted my license back.
I was the first one at all the sessions. I listened, asked questions, participated, helped out, shared. They liked me; they said good things about me; they said I was "good to go." It took me a long time to realize that after I left the retreat I was still in denial about my alcohol use.
