Her search to complete the picture led to something a whole lot better

Jigsaw puzzle: A puzzle consisting of a mass of irregularly shaped pieces that form a picture when fitted together. It sounds like a recovering alcoholic’s life.

It was 2003, and I was a few weeks sober, fidgeting in the middle of the night. Nothing to watch on TV, tired of reading, and desperately in need of something to do with my hands. Suddenly I had the idea of going to the 24-hour pharmacy to buy a puzzle. That would do the trick.
