Belief in the Bottle
She realized that Step Two was the antidote to her problem
Many years ago, I attended a lecture by a doctor in Memphis. It was titled "Belief in the Bottle." That lecture caught my attention in that he explained that when we come into the program of Alcoholics Anonymous our belief is in the bottle of alcohol rather than a Higher Power. We look for the solutions to life's problems there and celebrate our seeming victories there as well.
I could not stop drinking until I began to believe that there might be the slightest possibility that a power greater than myself might help.
