Was yours high or low? One alcoholic ponders the question

STEP ONE: We admitted we were powerless over alcohol—that our lives had become unmanageable.

I was at a meeting recently, and a fellow with about a month of sobriety brought up the topic of “hitting bottom.” He wanted input as to what a bottom was. I listened for a while as people relayed their stories of hitting their bottoms—each one a little more dramatic than the last. It was one of those “If you think that’s bad, listen to this” meetings.
