March 2011: Tooth and consequence

"I am not sure which part of the book has the Promise, “Once you get sober you get to be a good dad and play the Tooth Fairy,” but for me this Promise has definitely come true."

Prior to getting sober, my kids used to hide in the closet when I came home. I wasn’t the greatest dad and was drinking constantly. Now I’ve just celebrated four years of sobriety and I am continually amazed at how good life is and continues to be. The small things in life continue to amaze me.

The other day my 9-year-old daughter came to me, excited that she had a loose tooth. I looked in wonder and noticed that the loose tooth was one that already had a silver cap on it.
