Even halfway around the world in Australia, the program is there if you seek it
"Could I go to Australia and not drink a beer?"
In my early sobriety, a friend took me under her wing, driving me to meetings, introducing me to others and teaching me all about the program. She told me her story, suggested I “identify and don’t compare,” and then listened as I told mine. I am convinced that AA, working through her, saved my life. There were many other people who helped me along the way, but she was the most influential, teaching me the skills that helped build a solid AA foundation.
