The Ninth Step helps a sober man make his way out of the ditch
Zeke and I first met at a cabinet factory right after my Army discharge. He drove a tractor-trailer for them while I worked in the final assembly area and the loading dock. After I moved into the trailer park where he lived with his wife we began drinking together and generally enjoyed each other’s company.
It did not take long to drink myself out of the job with the cabinet factory. Zeke was now working as a backhoe operator for a plumbing company, and he managed to get me hired there to be an assistant ditch-digger.
