I was born in 1969. I have two sisters, but I’m the youngest. My parents were 40 years apart in age, but they loved each other. My dad would come home from work and make himself a screwdriver—almost every day. He always went to work and had dinner on the table. But I despised my mother.
When I was 6, my dad became too old to take care of me, and my mother couldn’t either, so I was adopted by a couple. Sandy was a very nice lady, but Jim was a raging alcoholic and very abusive. Jim ended up going to prison. I swore that I would never be like that.
