The Weekly Package
Powerlessness
The first step in the program of Alcoholics Anonymous is to admit powerlessness over alcohol. Each person reaches that moment and that place by different roads. In this week's package, we hear 5 very different stories of how people came to admit their own powerlessness and joined AA.
In one story, after experiencing her own alcoholic seizures and DTs, a woman gets sober at almost the exact same age as her mother was when her mother died of the DTs. In another story, a former cowboy uses alcohol to kill his physical pain until he realizes that he's suffering far more from the affects of drinking.
