Having a ball
Never been to a "GrapeBall" meeting? You don't know what you're missing! At Area 44's annual "Grapefest," members celebrated the Grapevine and La Viña by sharing a meal, listening to a speaker, and hosting the aforementioned GrapeBall meeting -- that's where a giant stuffed grape is tossed around the room, and whoever catches it gets to share next, according to the area's Grapevine Chair, Jeff W. The committee boasts a theatre professional among its members and has been developing a reputation for its shows at the area conventions. Following last year's success, "The Wizard of Booze," this year the committee presented "Wet Side Story," in which the gang of Wets faces off against the Drys. (The Wets eventually get sober, thanks in part to reading the Grapevine.)

Getting out the Grape
NETA Area 65 Grapevine committee chair Linda A. was invited to set up a Grapevine/La Viña display at the Tyler Anniversary in January. "They had good food, great speakers, and wonderful people, and I had a delightful time sharing about the Grapevine and La Viña," Linda said. She said she was also asked to attend and speak about the two publications at the District 64 meeting.

"Keep-it-Simple" rally at assembly meeting
In response to the "Keep-it-Simple" challenge issued at last year's Conference, our Grapevine committee, at Area 72's assembly meeting in October, set up two laptop computers near the display table and had members on hand to guide attendees around the Grapevine's website. "I explained that they could actually log on and subscribe during the weekend, using the laptops," said the Western Washington Area 72 Delegate, Gail H.
