Carrying the Message

Another viewpoint

I agree with O. S.'s letter in the February issue. I am an atheist, and from present indications shall probably be one until the day I die. I respect the right of others to find whatever kind of Power they need to take the load off their own self-will; and I expect them to let me find my own way to do likewise. I believe Alcoholics Anonymous works because it fits the way the human personality functions, and that future research will show there are scientific reasons for what success this program has had, even though as yet we do not fully understand why and how it works and that therefore (as men have always done when facing what is incomprehensible to them) most of us believe there must be supernatural forces involved.
