What? No meeting today? He was new and now desperate—but he wasn’t alone
It started out as just another August workday. A downtown noon meeting might be good, I thought, to help keep my fairly new sobriety going. Nobody told me it was a public holiday in a state that celebrated the day when the war in the Pacific came to an end many years ago.
